Ash Hill footballers in seven goal thriller!

De Warenne 9/10s v Ash Hill 9s/10's

In very wet conditions the game kicked off with Jamie Randle nearly winning a penalty inside the first 30 seconds. Ash Hill soon found themselves two nil down after 10 minutes, but they responded strongly for the rest of the first half with Jamie Randle being denied by the goalkeeper - the closest Ash Hill came to a goal. The second half started with Thierry Xue making a fine save to deny their right winger, before Ash Hill pulled a goal back in extraordinary circumstances. The goalkeepr threw a routine ball out which, unbeknown to left winger Alfie Barrass, hit him on the back of the head and looped over the keeper into the net. Substitute William Wood then scored a screamer from 25 yards out to draw us level. Two quick goals from De Warenne then seemed put the game beyond doubt but the lads never gave up and captain Jack Evans scored a left foot shot into the bottom corner two minutes from time to set up a grandstand finish. Sadly we couldn't find an equaliser, but the lads showed excellent fighting spirit to score three goals in the second half and run De Warenne close. Final score, De Warenne 4 Ash Hill 3
